Grandparents’ Rights

Family Attorney Phoenix

Grandparents have rights, in some circumstances, to be awarded grandparenting time with their grandchildren. Recognition of grandparents’ rights is a fairly recent trend. Grandparents, stepparents, and other caretakers often form deep, meaningful relationships with the children in their lives. Yet when death, divorce, or estrangement tears families apart, these important people in a child’s life may find themselves stranded and without options. We can help to open the door and establish quality time with your grandchildren.

Child Visitation Laws

Family Attorney Phoenix

Arizona law provides that a Court may award visitation rights if the child’s parents’ marriage has been dissolved for at least three months, or the child is born out of wed-lock. Adoption cuts off the visitation rights of the grandparents unless the adoption is granted to a stepparent.

Intra-family disputes are often the most difficult, both legally and emotionally. As a featured lecturer in the area of grandparent’s rights and third party custody matters, Lon S. Taubman teaches other attorneys about the status of the law with regard to grandparents and third party caregivers.
